Freedom in Jesus
I remember years before I got born-again how oppressed I was. I was going through one abusive relationship after another, I dealt with suicidal thoughts all the time and I was dealing with an eating disorder. Looking back at the day I got born-again, I see that I was set free at that moment because I chose to make Jesus the Lord of my life. I was totally set free from fornication, depression, suicidal thoughts, and I met my husband a couple of days after and we have been happily married ever since. When I chose Jesus, the strongholds broke and that curse of depression, fornication, and being in abusive relationships broke off of me. No longer was I a slave to fear, anxiety, and sin, but I became a set free child of the Most-High God.
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 3:17 that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom or liberty. When you call on the name of Jesus, He steps into the room and liberty takes place. When you make the decision to repent and choose Jesus over everything else, you are a new creature, old things have been passed away, and all things become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). Jesus is the only way. He even says that He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). The only way to receive freedom from the enemy's grip is to submit to the Lordship of Jesus - the Champion who defeated sin, hell, the grave, and the devil, and allow Him to move in your life.
Whatever is trying to oppress you today or make you feel defeated, come to Jesus. He tells us in Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” It is time to come to Jesus with your burdens because they are not yours to carry. It’s time for you to release that hurt and come to Jesus who makes all things new and sets us free from every bondage, and stronghold!
