As we end 2023, and enter into 2024 in the next few days, I want you to look back at this year, and think about how God worked on your behalf all throughout this year. This morning, I was reading Psalm 107 and verse 2 caught my attention. It says “Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others He has redeemed you from your enemies.” I thought about the times the enemy tried to bring me down this year, and how God always stepped in and delivered me. When we see the hand of God move on our behalf, we are to testify to others what the Lord has done.
It’s interesting when in Mark 5:1-20, Jesus delivered the man with a legion of evil spirits and that same man wanted to come with Jesus and tag along with the other disciples. You know what Jesus told him to do? He told the man to go and tell everyone what the Lord had done for Him! In verse 20, it says “so the man started off to visit Ten Towns of that region and began to proclaim the great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed at what he told them” You realize that was a public ministry right? How amazing is that?
When the Lord takes you out of such a dark place and delivers you, He wants you to go and tell others what He has done because He wants others to see His goodness. Your life is a witness and a living testimony to the goodness, and mercy of God. There are many people that think God is mad at them and angry all of the time, but when you tell them all of the mistakes you made in your past and how God forgave you, they don’t see an angry God, they see a good and caring God who loves deeply.
Before the year ends, take the time to reflect on the goodness of God and give a shout of praise! Look forward to the new year! He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). The same God who delivered you this year, is already in your 2024! He has great things in store for you! Amen!
