The definition of the word faithful simply means steadfast in affection or allegiance. Another definition would be firm in adherence to promises. This reminds me of Lamentations 3:22-23 which says “the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” God is committed to you. He’s so committed that His mercies become new every single day because He knows how much it’s needed daily. He’s committed to being good to you.
God is not only faithful, but he can also be trusted to keep His word and His promises. Psalm 145:13 says “Your Kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all He promises and faithful in all He does.” You cannot separate God from His promises and you also cannot separate Him from His faithfulness. Those are His attributes and because He loves you so much, He is committed to being truthful and honest with you and willing to give you precious promises to stand on!
I am sure time and time again, people have either lied to you or have broken a promise and that made you scared to trust anyone. Can I tell you something? You can trust Jesus Christ with every part of your life. He is the only One who will meet you where you are at, clean you up and set your feet on solid ground (Psalm 40:2). Jesus is the only One who died for you to have a new life, to be forgiven, blessed, redeemed and so much more! Whatever promise God has given to you, understand that He has every intention of bringing it to pass in His perfect timing.
In the meantime, stand on His Word! While you wait for those promises to come to pass, commune with Jesus everyday. Build your relationship with Him. Gain wisdom from His Word. Allow the Lord to mold you into the person He has called you to be so that when it’s time for you to receive that promise, you are ready! In the times it seems tough, lean on His faithfulness. Think of the times He has brought you out and realize this time is no different from all of the other times. He was faithful then and He will remain faithful now and forever and always! Amen.
