God is Refining You

I know that the trial you are facing right now may not be ideal and has been a test of your faith, but I want to say that God can use what the enemy meant for your harm and turn it around for your betterment. There are times when God allows these trials to refine you. You know what the word refine means? Refine means “ to remove impurities or unwanted elements from (a substance), typically as part of an industrial process. Biblically speaking, the impurities or unwanted elements would be the bad habits or the sin that so easily trips you up (Hebrews 12:1).

In order for us to learn, God will use a trial to chip away the things He wants removed from you and sometimes that may even be an unwanted relationship that has been hindering your growth and walk with Him. When you seek the Lord in everything that you do, God will see to it that He perfects all that concerns you (Psalm 138:8), so that when you come out of the fire, or that trial, you are stronger and more wise than before.

It’s unfortunate, but the only way human beings learn is by going through a trial. How can you say you are an overcomer when you have nothing to overcome? How can you say you are more than a conqueror when you’ve never had to conquer anything? How can you have a testimony with no test? Jesus never promised that we wouldn’t go through trials, in fact He says in John 16:33 “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in Me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

What He did promise, however, is that when we go through trials, we can know that we will come out victorious if we lean on Him and understand that we have the greater One living on the inside of us (1 John 4:4). When Jesus says “take heart” He means, take courage or confidence and know that things will get better because you have King Jesus right by your side. So, take heart, and understand that this trial is a stepping stone that will catapult you into the next thing that God has for you. You are going to come out stronger and wiser!
