Jesus is Our Anchor

When trials and tribulations come our way, it’s easy to get off course if our minds are just fixed on the situation. However, when we stay fixed on Jesus, His faithfulness and love keeps us grounded. Do you know why ships need an anchor? In most cases they need an anchor to hold down the weight of their ship during a storm so that they don’t get off course, and stay in one place.

I love that this is the same with Jesus. Hebrews 6:18-19 says “So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.”

Because God has given us His promises and His oath, when he tells us something we know we can rely on it. His Word is unchangeable and it’s impossible for Him to lie. That is what keeps us grounded when the storms of life come because we know that in the end, God has the final say and He can be trusted to give us the victory in the end. He is our anchor through any situation we face because when we lean on Him for guidance and help, He will keep us grounded and on course despite what the natural may look like. His Word is a trustworthy and strong anchor for our souls.

I want to encourage you to keep your eyes on Jesus because once we take our focus off of Him, that’s when we get discouraged and the enemy can attack us with fear and doubt. Let the Word of God keep you grounded during this time. Remember that God will never lie to you and when He says in His Word that He will deliver you, expect that deliverance to come knocking at your door!
