Something that I have learned while walking with the Lord is that you can’t put a price tag on peace. Peace is something money can’t buy because it’s a position you choose to put yourself in that allows you to be above the situation and have peace of mind about it. Peace is the ability to trust in God and know that whatever you are facing He is going to work it out for your good and give you victory. Peace is having the empowerment to enjoy during a time when everyone else is in chaos. Peace is not letting your circumstances choose your mood for the day and instead choosing to stay focused on Jesus.
Jesus says in John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” When we lean on Jesus, He is the one who gives us peace. He gives us peace in our minds, and in our hearts. Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6) and it’s no wonder that when we focus on Him, we experience His supernatural peace. Isaiah 26:3 even says that “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”
You see, the world wants us to focus on the bad that is happening and then experience those emotions that go along with that. The devil is a thief (John 10:10) and through the world, he cannot give peace but instead gives fear, depression, anxiety, stress and so much more! That’s why Jesus says in John 14:27 “not as the world gives”. The world can only give something that is fake. The devil can only cover up something. He has no creative power to create peace or to even want peace for anyone. He’s the father of lies (John 8:44) and even if the world sugarcoats that they offer “peace and tranquility”, it’s only temporary. The peace that Jesus gives is eternal peace not just in heaven but we can experience this peace here on earth.
I get it. I have been in situations where it almost seems impossible to feel at peace when things are not going in my favor, but do you know what helped me? I began to just say “Jesus” over and over again. I then began to sing a song and just declare the Word over that situation. I began to declare that “greater is He that is in me, than he that is in this world” (1 John 4:4) and that “no weapon formed against me shall prosper” (Isaiah 54:17). This is how you tap into that peace - by making the decision that no matter what happens, you will stand on God’s promises because God is not a liar and He would never promise you something without the intention of bringing it to pass.
You can experience the peace of God in times of turmoil because in Him is all peace and joy. Jesus is the Word made flesh (John 1:14) and when we declare the Word we declare Jesus - peace itself over that situation. How powerful is that? Whatever you are in need of today, I want to encourage you to get in the Word of God and start speaking Jesus over your body. Jesus over your family. Jesus over your heart. Jesus over your marriage! You will see that once you start to do this, the peace of God will intensify within you!
